The end of an era

Today is my birthday. I turned 27 at 5:15 p.m. eastern standard time today.
At 5:15 p.m. eastern standard time today, I had just learned that my beloved Avery, my first baby, my sweet thumbed cat, passed away. My mom had warned me that he went missing a day ago (which never happens). But when I spoke with her today she told me that Mark went looking for him only to find him washed up on the shore of the pond at the back of our property. There is much speculation to the nature of his death but he lived a long 13 years and was very well loved. He loved hard in return. I guess there’s not much more to say than that.
