Hey kiddo,

long time, and no blogging. now, i know you are all probably thinking that it is because i am just too cool to blog now-adays. however, it’s not I who am too cool, it’s my CAR. my NEW car.

anywho, my sister sent me video of my 7 week old niece and i am going to have to figure out how to get it to you all from here b/c it just makes life better to see a baby taking a bath!

now, i’d like to share another atwood poem (thanks SBC for helping me rediscover my atwood book upstairs–

Variations on the Word Sleep

I would like to watch you sleeping,

which may not happen.

I would like to watch you,

sleeping. I would like to sleep

with you, to enter

your sleep as its smooth dark wave

slides over my head

and walk with you through that lucent

wavering forest of bluegreen leaves

with its watery sun & three moons

towards the cave where you must descend,

towards your worst fear

I would like to give you the silver

branch, the small white flower, the one

word that will protect you

from the grief at the center

of your dream, from the grief

at the center. I would like to follow

you up the long stairway

again & become

the boat that would row you back

carefully, a flame

in two cupped hands

to where your body lies

beside me, and you enter

it as easily as breathing in

I would like to be the air

that inhabits you for a moment

only. I would like to be that unnoticed

& that necessary.

fantastic, huh?

speaking of sleep, i should head off in that direction but i have to remove food and water from the cat’s reach.. she’s having her surgery tomorrow and apparently, they don’t want her to turn into a gremlin because it interferes with the anesthesia (sp?).

anyhow, let’s all take a moment of silence for Sophie. she bites us alot, but she still deserves it…

Thanks for your participation. Your prayers are appreciated. We will be home all week if you wish to drop off casseroles or pies to get our family through this time.

Good night all!!!
